I am delighted to announce that I am in the process of moving to my brand new clinic!  After months of searching for the ideal place, I have found a little haven above "Flowers of Magic" in Church Square.  I will now have much more space for my herbal dispensary, classes and courses.  In the next few days I will be very busy decorating and moving in, but hopefully by next week will be ready to see clients again... watch this space!

COURSE PROGRAMME FOR AUTUMN 2014

9/3/2014

MAKE YOUR OWN NATURAL SKIN CARE PRODUCTS

What we put onto our skin goes into our bodies – a fact that only recently has been recognised by the scientific community.  This means that it is so important that our skin care products are as pure and natural as possible.  Learning to make your own products is fun; creative; healthy and it also can save a huge amount of money, as natural/organic skin care products tend to be costly.  This is also the perfect time to make your own natural Christmas presents for friends and family.

The course covers:

  • Health and safety

  • Natural ingredients – what they are, how to use them, the benefits of them

  • How to make your own lip balms and ointments; massage oils; hand creams; cleansers and toners and moisturisers.

Dates: Monday 10 November – 4 weeks.

Fees: €50, including ingredients and samples to take home.

BOOKING

Contact Margaret on 087 2024066 Or email wildaboutherbs@gmail.com

All courses will only be run if there are a minimum of 6 people.  Venue: To be confirmed.  Fees are paid in full on registration evening.  Unfortunately re-funds cannot be offered for missed classes due to the costs involved.  Please let Margaret know if you have any special topics you would like to cover in the class.

THE DETOX KITCHEN

Would you like to learn all about the how and the why of the essential detox kitchen skills?  Then this course is for you!  There will be lots of information; demonstrations and tastings.  In a relaxed and fun environment you will learn:

Wheatgrass – how to grow it and juice it, and all the amazing health benefits.

Juicing – how to make delicious fresh juices.

Sprouting – sprouts and micro vegetables are nutritional superfoods; they are easy to grow and very good value.  They are especially important in the winter months when fresh vegetables are hard to get.

Dehydrating – learn how to make healthy food cooked at a very low temperature to preserve all the vitamins and minerals.  If time permits there will also be an introduction to fermenting.

Dates and times: Saturday morning 10am-12.

Saturday 20th September or Saturday 11th October or Saturday 15th November or Saturday 6th December.

Fees: €10 for morning.

NATURALLY HEALTHY – THURSDAY EVENING TALKS

Each evening will cover herbs; foods; Bach flower remedies; tissue salts and supplements for particular health issues.  Each talk can be booked separately, or it can be booked as a full 6 week course which will be an excellent introduction to using herbs and naturopathy for healthy living.

September 18th – Naturally healthy digestion

September 25th – Naturally healthy heart

October 2nd – Naturally healthy hormonal health

October 9th – Naturally healthy mind and emotions

October 16th – Naturally healthy immunity – warding off those winter ailments

October 23rd – Naturally healthy ways to relax

November 6th – Naturally healthy skin; hair and nails

Fees: €10 per evening, or book all 6 in advance for €50.

SAFE AND GENTLE DETOX

Detox has become a bit of a buzzword, and it is usually associated with celebrities or extreme starvation diets.  This is unfortunate, as a safe and gentle detox which is adapted for the individual’s own special needs can be an excellent was to kick - start new healthy habits.  It is also a way of identifying food intolerances and sensitivities, and a chance to learn some healthy new recipes and to try out interesting foods.  Making dietary or lifestyle changes can be very daunting, and this is a great opportunity to get help and support, and to begin the autumn with a good start.  Margaret is a qualified naturopath, and as part of her training she learned how to guide people through a safe and simple detox.  She also completed an advanced post-graduate training in applying the Functional Medicine approach to detoxification.  This approach combines traditional methods which have been used for hundreds of years with cutting edge evidence-based science.

Each week new topics will be addressed; including:

  • Everyday detox – what to do every day to help and support the body’s natural detox systems

  • Identifying food intolerances and sensitivities – how to do an elimination diet and still get all the nutrients you need

  • Finding the right motivation for change

  • Understanding how we detoxify – the role of the liver and other organs; and the organs of elimination

  • Kitchen techniques – how to do juicing, sprouting, grow wheatgrass, and make dehydrated foods

  • Herbs and supplements for supporting a detox

  • Understanding the sources of toxins in our food, air, water and skin care products

  • Wider issues of detox – toxic thoughts and emotions; clearing the clutter in our homes.

  • Bach flowers and emotional support – staying positive.

  • Dry skin brushing and castor oil packing.

Dates: Starts Monday 15th September; 5 week course.  8-10pm, fee: €50
